Went for a sail yesterday with Gill, the Kippax, Marls and her Ecuadorian visitors (AKA "the Eccies"). We decided on the spur of the moment to circumnavigate Bruny Island - no small feat: a round trip of about 75 nautical miles in wild open ocean. At just shy of the halfway point just beyond Fluted Cape, we got caught in a squall with a windshift and 45 knot + gusts, and the mainsail ripped at the top batten while flogging in irons. We decided that trying to complete the trip around the wild waters of the southern tip of Bruny without a mainsail was not a good idea, so limped back North under power and two headsails. A great little adventure, but it was a shame not to make it the whole way!

The Scott saga is almost over I hope. I understand that my Genius will be here within a week or so...

Deck is happening...kitchen is next...garden is growing...summer is still showing some reluctance to commit...but all in all, things down in Tassie with Gill and I are good...
